Requirements
To activate your AGOV login on a new phone or tablet, you must have either your old device or an additional authentication factor that works, i.e. a security key or another device on which the AGOV access app is registered.
Do not uninstall the AGOV access application from your old device before registering the new device in your AGOV account. If you have already uninstalled the application or no longer have access to your old device, follow the instructions in the article What can I do if I no longer have access to my smartphone, tablet or security key? on the AGOV website.
Activate your AGOV login on a new device
- Install the AGOV access app on your new phone or tablet:
- Apple devices (iPhone or iPad) running on iOS 12 or a newer version: AGOV access app for iOS.
- Android devices running on Android 6.0 or a newer version: AGOV access app for Android.
- Log in to your AGOV account (me.agov.ch ) using your old device.

Open the Authentication factors section.

Click on Add AGOV Access application.
Add the AGOV Access application.

Follow the instructions, then click on Continue.
Confirm the transaction.
- You will receive a push notification from the AGOV access app in the notification bar of your smartphone or tablet. Click on the notification to validate the data entered using the AGOV access app. If no notification appears, check in your settings that notifications are enabled for the AGOV access app.

Open the AGOV access app on your new device and scan the QR code displayed in AGOV.
Scan the QR code to register the AGOV access app.
- Select the authentication method you wish to use on your new mobile phone or tablet. This choice depends on your device settings (PIN code, fingerprint or facial recognition). Please note that the PIN code is only valid for the AGOV access application. Remember this for the next time you use your AGOV login. A message confirming that your registration has been successful will appear on the screen of your mobile phone or tablet.
- The registration of your new device is confirmed. Complete the procedure by clicking on Continue.
- Your new phone or tablet will now appear in the list of authentication factors. You can now use it to log in with your AGOV login.
