The Ministry of Economic Affairs creates a framework in which all economic operators can develop their potential and encourages them to respect each other; individuals are always at the centre of its thinking on the economy of tomorrow. In concrete terms, this means:
- giving everybody the possibility of finding their place in the economy by developing first-class vocational training courses.

- staying vigilant against the scourge of unemployment and working actively to reintegrate jobseekers into the workplace.
Stimulating a spirit of cooperation between the canton of Fribourg and its neighbours
The work of the Ministry of Economic Affairs has to be seen within a larger context than that of the economy of the Canton of Fribourg:
- the Ministry aims to promote collaboration with the neighbouring Cantons and countries and to defend the interests of the Canton of Fribourg on the intercantonal (GGBA, Swiss Capital Region, University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland (HES-SO), Platinn, ACCESS, etc.) and international level (Assembly of European Regions, partnerships like the one with China's Zhejiang Province, etc.)
- the Ministry maintains good relations with the Confederation and takes part in public consultations exercises on federal legislation.
