Our mission

The main functions of our Commercial registry are to:

  • Record incorporating and dissolving companies and examine the respective information with regard to the underlying legal basis (namely Swiss Code of Obligations and Swiss Civil Code);
  • store company information; and
  • make this information available to the public.

Organisation

Each canton keeps its commercial register. However, commercial registers may also be kept by districts (e.g. canton of Wallis). Currently, there are 27 commercial registers in Switzerland.

The commercial register in the canton of Fribourg has been centralized as per January 1, 2003. It is part of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Every entry in our register is electronically submitted to the Federal Commercial registry Office in Berne and, after its approval the following day, transmitted to and published by the Swiss Official Gazette of commerce.
