In summer
2007, two Long-tailed Skuas (Stercorarius longicaudus)
were fitted with Argos transmitters on Traill Island in NE
Greenland. Here below, you will find informations related to
this project and you may follow their movements with a

This study
aims

to document the period when Long-tailed Skuas leave their
breeding site

to track their autumnal migration corridors

to assess their wintering quarters and to find out how often
they change sites during this period

to track their route back in the reproduction sites in the
next spring

part of the
Karupelv Valley Project
(leader
Dr. B. Sittler - Univ. of Freiburg/Germany), and is done
in close cooperation with the GREA (Groupe
de Recherches en Ecologie Arctique) as well as
with the two expeditions
Ecopolaris et
Sagax REVO and the
Museum
of natural history of Fribourg/Switzerland.
