Geology

The Geology hall focuses on Swiss geology and that of the Canton Fribourg throughout the formation of the Alps, Prealps, and the Molasse bassin. Several samples from the Canton Fribourg are shown in their Paleogeographic era: the fossils of a sirenia (Halitherium sp.) from Vaulruz dating to around 30 million years ago, or amber from Flysch in the Plaffeien region. There is also a sector consecrated to recent discoveries, in particular that of a cave bear skeleton from the Pleistocene found in the Schwarzsee region.
